Can I be layed off while on sick leave

If by laid off you mean your employment has been terminated, then your employer must be able to show that your termination had nothing to do with you being on a medical leave of absence. If even a small part of the decision to let you go was due to you being off on a medical leave, that is discrimination and contrary to the Human Rights Code in Ontario. You should use our Ontario Severance Pay Calculator (www.severancepaycalculator.com) to find out how much you may be owed, and give us a call at the number below to discuss your situation in more detail. We would be happy to assist in any way we can.
