I have been with the same company for 13 years now and I recently had surgery and have been off for two weeks. Prior to my injury not work related my employer forced me to sign a document saying that he was not happy with my productivity while he was on a weeks vacation. I work for a small business ( only six of us including the boss). I think I shouldn't have signed it. My concern upon returning to work is wether or not he will try to terminate me because of my performance as of late or because I've a lot of time recently with my injury. Is any if this legal and I'm i entitled to severance if he decides to lay me off or terminate me.

If your employment is terminated upon your return to work, you are likely owed severance based on your age, position and years of service with the company. You would also be owed additional compensation if the company lets you go because of your medical leave. Use our Severance Pay Calculator to find out how much you may be owed, and give us a call at the number below to discuss the situation in more detail.
