The HR leader gave her cellphone number to the HR Coordinator for work related reason. HR coordinator was being disciplined by her manager, the HR leader. HR Coordinator was upset, gave the number to her mother. The mother then texted the HR leader asking questions about the situation. Does this sharing of the personal cell number amount to Breach of Confidentiality (all employees sign an Oath if breached they know dismissal will result) and justify immediate dismissal?

Thank you for your question. Sharing the personal cell phone number may amount to a breach of confidentiality and would likely attract discipline. We would need to fully review the policy and the circumstances surrounding the matter. I would strongly encourage you to call us and set up a free and confidential consultation with one of our employment lawyers who would be happy to fully discuss options with you.
