The warehouse worker injured himself at home (he fell down some stairs). According to his doctor, he is unable to do manual labour until he recovers. He is requesting we put him on "light duty" for the next 4 to 6 weeks while he recovers. Unfortunately, we don't have anything in the way of "light duty" work as it is a small warehouse with only 3 positions. My two remaining employees are confident they can cover for the injured employee while he is away healing, but the injured employee doesn't want to lose the income, and seems to think that we should have to find work for him so that he can keep getting paid. My question is, am I obligated to allow this employee to keep coming in and working, despite the fact that we do not need him to do the work he'll be doing, purely so he can keep receiving a pay cheque from us?Vaping in the workplace happens at my work and it is effecting my health, i have trouble breathing, my throat closes and hurts as does my chest. I have talked to the person and the owner. I am the Health & safety rep and human resources but nothing seem to matter. The employee now takes a break every 20 minutes for vaping which has been discussed with the owner too, but he won't address it. He continues to vape when the owner leaves the building with no regard for how it effects me. I can't seem to find any city dept that will back the ruling despite having posters in the office and warehouse, they go ignored. I've documented the issues and conversations. I feel i'm being forced into quitting to save my health. What can i do?What if an employee stayed in the company for 5 years and the vacation balance were accumulated each year which the employer allows, then suddenly, the employer wants to remove the vacation for 2 years that was accumulated, his reason was that time is covid and the employees work from home. Please advise. Thank youWhat if after being laid off the employer did not contact the employees because of down in sales and no plans to hire on the same positions?I would like to know my rights please. I had a concern about a particular person and voiced my concerns and complaints to my manager about bullying . My manager then made this particular person my supervisor, and the bullying and harassment continued . I voiced my concerns and complained to HR about the bullying , and asked to speak with her. HR refused and said she will speak with everyone at the same time. I voice my concern that I was being bullied in the meeting with all parties. About 30 minutes after the meeting was concluded I was called back to the meeting and this time my Supervisor and manager complained about me to HR. I tried to defend myself as what was being said was not true. HR said my Manager and supervisor must write up a letter to put in my file. How best do I handle this situation and is it reprisal?
