Can an employer tells rest of employees that you were terminated

Thanks for your question. An employer is allowed to inform others that you are no longer employed with the Company. The employer is not allowed to say false and hurtful things about you as this could amount to a claim of defamation. As you have been terminated, it is important to ensure that you have been provided with a fair severance package. Before you sign or agree to any offer, check out the severance pay calculator our firm has developed to see if the offer is fair (www.SeverancePayCalculator.com). I would also encourage you to get in touch with our Ottawa office and set up a consultation with one of our local employment lawyers.
