Ask your question about terminations, dismissals and lay offs and an employment lawyer in Ontario, BC or Alberta will answer in minutes
can an employer terminate an employee without reason
Hi Mich,
Thank you for your question.
Normally, simply saying the termination is on a without cause basis is enough. If you are terminated for cause and not provided with any notice or severance however, the employer is required to provide a reason.
In any event, if you have been terminated and are being asked to sign a document before you can get additional notice or severance, I recommend you call our firm to schedule a consultation. From there we can gather further information and be in the best position to properly advise you as to your full rights and entitlements.
