Do I have to legally be given a reason for being fired ?

Unless you are a federally regulated employee, or in a union, then no - your employer does not need a reason to termination your employment. This is what's called a "without cause" termination, which means that you would be owed either reasonable notice of your termination or a reasonable severance package. If you have been let go, make sure to use our Ontario Severance Pay Calculator (www.severancepaycalculator.com) to find out how much you are owed, and give us a call at the number below to discuss your situation in more detail. We would be happy to assist as best we can.
