I have an employee that has been with me for 10 years I have had numerous complaints about him from other co-workers as he talks down to people and calls them names. If I let him go what are my responsibilities. My total annual payroll is only $450,000 per year

Thanks for writing to us. Your obligations with respect to terminating this employee's employment would depend on several factors, including whether there is an employment contract that governs the relationship. We would require more information from you in order to provide you with comprehensive legal advice on terminating the employee in question.
