My employer is selling his business and the property on which the business is located. The purchaser is not interested in running the business, but wants to maintain the business until such time as they will develop the property. They have asked if I would be willing to lease the business from them in the interim. As this is changing my status from employee to business owner, am I entitled to severance based on my 8.3 years of service from the original owner of the company.

You are entitled to up to 8-9 months of severance but the actual value of your entitlements depends on how much income you earn from the purchaser. I encourage you to call us at the number below to to discuss your matter further.
