Hello.........my friend broke her foot off work and when she tried to get Employment Insurance she was denied because they said her employer had not sent any federal or provincial tax deductions from any of the employees . Her pay stubs show that deductions were taken. What can she do to go forward with this?

Thanks

Wayne

Thanks for writing to us. I would suggest that your friend immediately request clarification from her employer regarding the deductions. If her employer has been fraudulently claiming they are making deductions and not remitting those deductions to the government, this could amount to a constructive dismissal, and she would be owed severance. To get a sense of what severance would amount to, please visit the severance pay calculator our firm has developed (www.SeverancePayCalculator.com). Or tell your friend to feel free to call us at anytime.
