Add Comment Question: I was doing a fantastic job working in retail at the calender club. I made more sales than others, I approached the customers with a friendly attitude and helped them with anything they needed. While other employees sat behind the counter. I worked 27-29 hours a week and other employees had 12-17 hours a week because they had school during the day and other activities. Yesterday my boss Barbara approached me telling me that she will be taking over my hours because I was her temporary fill in while she took care of her grand children. She gave no warning that she would be firing me today, she never told me that I was a temporary replacement. I was told that I would be working full time until December (because it's a seasonal store). And she gave no actual reason to fire me other than her being selfish wanting to take over my hours. Is this legal? Answer: They have the right to let you go but they owe you a severance package. I encourage you to call us to discuss the value of your entitlements and next steps.
