Add Comment Question: Hi. I have three years of employment with this company, that was recently bought by another bigger fish. Today on Dec 14, 2016 I am provided with new contract which states employment star date Jan 1, 2017 not taking under consideration my three years until the acquisition. This new contract has also a three months probation period stipulated, with an open option for the employer for termination without cause during the three months period. I want to know if through the acquisition process the contract should be a transfer of employment with the start date back in 2013 and no probation period giving the years with the company. There is also no mention about the hours/day to be completed (no matter the schedule) for the annual salary and no mention about sick policy. Thank you in advance! Answer: The new company cannot cancel your previous years of service and while it can let you go shortly after the transfer it will owe you termination pay. I encourage you to call us at the number below before you sign a contract with the new company as we can help you to review and understand the terms and their practical implications on your entitlements.
