Add Comment Question: I work at an agency that receives its funding from the government. The federal government gave an amount in the recent budget to allow me to have my first raise in salary since Jan. 1 2003. The amount of the raise was $10,000/yr. There are 5 people employed in my position at the agency. We all received the same raise. However, because I have been at this job since 2002, I also received an amount for "pay equity", which is no longer given to any new hires. I am the only one to receive it. It is only $120 per pay. My employer has taken the pay equity amount from me. This effectively gives me, the longest employed in this position, a raise that is $3,120 less than my coworkers. Can they do this? Answer: While it is unfortunate that your employer has made the decision to discontinue the pay equity amounts, your employer is within their rights to do so. If we can be of any assistance in the future please do not hesitate. Your Comment * Your Email * Your Name * Your City Note, your name, city and email is not displayed on the website.
