Can I be fired for using the word halfbreed. I was referring to my step children who are half black half white. I was talking to someone and a native American girl heard it. I didn't know this word was offensive. Ive used it all my life.

Our company is closing over christmas holidays. We just got notified Monday. My contract has stated that if they closed it would be counted as vacation time. I had them strike that out as I did not want to use vacation time for a mandatory holiday imposed by company and expect to be paid. We have now been told we have to either use vacation time or not get paid. I specifically crossed it out so that I would get paid. Are there any legal rights regarding this?

Hello.........my friend broke her foot off work and when she tried to get Employment Insurance she was denied because they said her employer had not sent any federal or provincial tax deductions from any of the employees . Her pay stubs show that deductions were taken. What can she do to go forward with this? Thanks Wayne
