One week you discussed a harrassment situation where the owner/boss would belittle and demean an employee and there was an opportunity to extract an employee from this current situation and get severance pay. I have worked at my present job for 3 yrs (all the same role), during that time I have been told I don't care and know nothing as well as being called stupid and an idiot. I have been told that if I don't improve within 2 months I will be fired. Several months later I was told I had 6 wks to improve or be fired. This has escalated to the point that this week I have been told that in 1 week I will be fired. The boss yelled this at me as he tapped his cellphone on my chest. This additional stress has affected my personal life, I feel sick in the morning before I head to work and feel extremely stressed at work. Is there anything I can do now to leave this position and collect severance pay? If and employee keeps taking time off for sick days, is that grounds for dismissal? She is never here!Hello I hope you might be able to provide some clarity to the following two questions. My mother is 71 years of age and it's been with her property management company for 12 years. They just handed her her termination papers and said that she is unable to collect unemployment insurance due to her age although she has been paying into it. What is more distressing is that in the letter it states she will be terminated as of November 15th 2018 which means from now till that date she is expected to work at the office in a toxic environment, train someone to take over the properties that she manages and that rather than give her Severance they're expecting her to work till November 15th at which time she will not receive any severance. I find this terribly unfair and it must be against the law. Could you kindly respond as this is creating a very toxic situation for my mother and at her age I'm very worried. Thank you very very muchJust wondering what's the next step that I can take I was currently fired from a position that I've been at for 6 months with no reason because I called in sick and was unable to do the work that was provided as I am a forklift operator got text by the owner saying that I no longer have a position to come and pick up my stuff due to me not showing up to work for night shift and I was in the hospital with the flu don't know what my next step would beIs it legal for me to come into work and work half my shift and no warning no nothing just be called into the office and be terminated without knowing ?
