I am 57 years old & have worked for a company in Ontario for 33 years.
The company is offering voluntary buyouts to all employees.
If I accept the buyout (78 weeks pay )can I collect unemployment insurance after the 78 weeks?

Ultimately, it is Service Canada that determines entitlements to employment insurance benefits. However, you will want to ensure that the record of employment does not indicate that you resigned from your position. You should also contact our firm and visit the severance pay calculator (http://www.severancepaycalculator.com/) to determine if 78 weeks' pay is a fair severance package.
