Is it ok to go to outside council to have an employment contract drawn up, or do we have to use the firm representing us for other items?
The Board of Directors needs an employment contract for a specific employee, has legal council already, but that council works closely with the employee in question, so it feels like a potential conflict to have them write this contract. (yes, the person is already employed, with no written contract in place)
Don't want to proceed though, if there is an obligation to that firm.
thanks

If you have counsel for general matters, there should be no issue to hire outside representation to draft up a contract. I would speak with your current lawyer to confirm what their retainer covers and advise them that you would like to seek outside assistance, given the concerns you've raised.
