Ask your question about terminations, dismissals and lay offs and an employment lawyer in Ontario, BC or Alberta will answer in minutes
I was on EI and then got a job at Great Clips as a hairstylist. It was very toxic work environment. Throughout my 3 weeks working there, I encountered a pattern of behavior that has significantly impacted my mental and emotional well-being. Instances being under constant video surveillance, and intimidation were not isolated events but rather a recurring theme that created an untenable work environment. So I had to quit after 3 weeks. After I quit, I was provided with a termination letter thru email. I was wondering if I can go back on EI again?
Thank you for your question.
If you were forced to resign involuntarily you can apply for EI and explain that you were effectively terminated as a result. Be open and transparent with EI that you left and were not expressly terminated. Service Canada will then determine whether you left for a good enough reason to justify the resumption of your EI.
It is strongly recommended that you discuss this with Service Canada directly.
