I was employed x 15 years with same company as health manager, did give my resignation once but then GM requested I reconsider as she herself was retiring..I stayed on til new GM started..I assumed role/jobs GM was to do until she was orientated..she never spoke with any of the department managers re: how she was to support us, nor what her role was in assuming responsibilities that we were covering for her..she knew I was planning to retire and repeatedly aggressively asked when I was going to do so and suggested I do so for end of Feb '17...I told her we would discuss this after she returned from 3 day conference..upon return I gave her my written resignation for end of March '17..she was upset saying she had "pushed all the buttons" for my resignation for end of Feb..I reminded her that we were to discuss this first..I had tried 3 separate times to speak with her about "issues" with changes she was making without consulting/informing other department manager which would affect how we ran our departments..she would wave her hand in the air and say she didn't have time to deal with that now..her sole focus was on "cleaning out her new office" and "getting all the administrative responsibilities in order"..as the the previous GM had not done so..from the time she started Jan 7/17 til Feb, I solely ran the health department, preventing influenza out break, covering for staff that were ill and worked a minimum of 36 hours overtime (am salaried and therefore no o/t pay)..I also got ill..turns out there is black mold in building..right under my office...was on antibiotics and off x 5 days...this caused serious repercussions as I developed fungal infection in sinus and chest...(still not clear)...new GM was made aware of this...I also dealt with death of dear senior after managing her palliative care..I emailed HO and my managers requesting some help as it seemed my role had changed with the hiring of new GM and I was requesting guidance...new GM was not happy with this even though I tried to tell her I had approached her 3 times (with witnesses) and was "dismissed"... at the end of Feb, she called me into her office and told me she wanted me to leave then...to hand over the keys..that I would be paid til end of March in accordance with my resignation, that I would get all my vacation pay (I still had 1 week from 2016 that there was no opportunity to take)...that I would continue to have health coverage til end of May...she gave no reason for asking me to leave, stated I wasn't "fired" but needed to leave...she would have my belongings in my office collected and I would be able to get them later...stated she would still have a "farewell party" for me so the residents would have the opportunity to say good bye to me...I know it was not job performance related....I had just received 3 separate commendations from residents' families to HO stating how pleased they were with the care their parent(s) were receiving...I did leave immediately as she requested...I did not argue with her...she had said earlier she was "running a business" for HO and I had tried to explain that this facility was also a "home for our seniors" and changes should be done gradually (which she did not do)...several residents and staff have contacted me stating they are so unhappy with this new GM and her presentation/attitude, have written letter to HO...the house doctor has quit as well....my question is whether or not I am entitled to severance package, or, because I did get paid til end of my date of resignation I am not entitled to it.....verbally I was told I was not fired, received wages til end of March, still have health coverage til end of May, my personal items were couriered to me as the GM had a strict time frame in which I was to come in to personally pick them up...residents' families are upset because they see this situation as that I was "let go" even though I got paid as an employee til end of March....what is your opinion?
