I have an employee that keeps bringing in valid Doctor's notes stating they need to be off for another week. This is make it very hard to ensure their duties are covered. They will provide a Dr. note stating that they need to be off for a week. Then when Thursday or Friday comes around they provide a new Dr. note stating they need be off again.
What can I do?
Thank you,

As an employer, while you are not entitled to a diagnosis of the employee's illness, you may request that the employee's doctor provide you with a note outlining how long they anticipate that the employee will need to be off work to recover from their illness.
You may also request that the employee's doctor complete a functional abilities form outlining the employee's restrictions and limitations to determine whether the employee can return to work on modified duties.
You are entitled to information that will assist the employer in covering the employee's duties and responsibilities in their absence, and to assist in accommodating their return to work.
I would highly recommend that you schedule a consultation with one of our lawyers so that we can get a better understanding of the specific situation and provide you with your options going forward.
