Ask your question about terminations, dismissals and lay offs and an employment lawyer in Ontario, BC or Alberta will answer in minutes
Hello. I am an employer who recently hired a new employee. She has worked for one week. I have realized that due to what is very likely a personality issue, she will not fit in well with the company. I plan to terminate her employment, but feel bad that she did give notice to another employer (part time there) that she is leaving to work full time at my office. Am I exposing myself to potential litigation since she left the other job? I really have no idea if she will still have a job there.
Thank you for your question. Any time an employee is terminated there is the some potential risk that an employee may commence litigation against the employer; irrespective of the actual merits of the particular case. Before proceeding with the termination, please give us a call at the number below. We'd happy to discuss ways in which to limit any potential exposure to your company both now and in the future.
