Ask your question about terminations, dismissals and lay offs and an employment lawyer in Ontario, BC or Alberta will answer in minutes
I was fired from a teaching position I moved up north (500k past Thunder Bay) to teach at a school on a reserve at 1.5 months into the job. I was given housing upon employment with the school (which I pay rent) and I have not been told by my employer to move out. However, our roommates we were placed with (which we were not told about until we got here) are telling us that we have to move out immediately. I was given a letter yesterday which my roommate received to give to me from my employer which I have not opened and have decided to wait to obtain a lawyer. The township is made up for 300 people and locating proper housing is not easy on such short notice. We are not covered by a tenant agreement since my employer pays for the rent and then I pay the employer. What are my options for housing? Am I able to stay? And what type of case would a wrongful termination fall under? Civil? Corporate?
