I am considering hiring a virtual admin assistant and want to know whether they would classified as an employee or a contractor.

The classification would be dependent on how the contract is entered into and the relationship develops. If the individual could work elsewhere, set their own hours, rate of pay, etc., they could be considered a contractor. If they were required to work set hours, were provided all the tools to do their job, etc., they could be considered an employee.
