Hi, I was injured in a car accident and my doctor recommended a shorter work week (medical note was provided). My employer has retained the services of the third party disability management company which has forced me to sign their consent form using threatening language such as "otherwise your file will be closed for non-compliance". They now hold the right to endlessly investigate my condition and question my health practitioners at my expense. As I am on medical leave without pay I am not entitled to apply for any disability insurance, therefore I am not certain as to why they are repeatedly requiring paperwork given my absence for one day a week has no apparent cost for the company. I feel like the whole procedure is aimed at wearing me down with paperwork and fees. Is this legal? Do I have any recourse? Should I comply? I would really appreciate your input. Thanks

It is possible that you are required to engage in this process because an employee has an obligation to participate in the accommodation process. With that said, the requests must be reasonable. Please contact our firm to discuss the matter in more detail and determine your rights in this situation.
