Ask your question about terminations, dismissals and lay offs and an employment lawyer in Ontario, BC or Alberta will answer in minutes
If I'm on long term disability can my work end my employment continuing receiving my long term and cut off my benefits like dental and prescription. I have had two back surgery and I'm on pain meds also other medications for other issues I have.
Thank you for your question. Your employer may be able to terminate your employment while you are on long term disability, but only if either the reason for termination is completely unrelated to your leave (a business or department closure, for example), or if you are permanently disabled and will never be returning to work because of your disability. In either case you would be owed some sort of severance, and your disability benefits would continue beyond your employment as per the insurance company’s policy. If your employment has been terminated, please contact us at the number below right away. In the circumstances, it is extremely important that you recieve advice from one of our experienced employment lawyers.
