Ask your question about terminations, dismissals and lay offs and an employment lawyer in Ontario, BC or Alberta will answer in minutes
I have a long time employee (17 years) that has gave his notice that he is leaving. His notice says that he will be done work as of April 1, 2016, so he has given 10 or 11 weeks notice. If I ask him to leave prior to April 1, 2016 how many weeks do I have to pay him for?
Thank you for your question. At 17 years of service, if you release the employee prior to 10 or 11 weeks he/she provided as notice of resignation then you may owe the balance. That said, there are a number of other considerations and information we would require to fully answer your question. I would strongly suggest that you call us and so that we can accurately assess your question. We would be happy to provide a free consultation/advice regarding this matter.
