I purchased a franchise and as part of the purchase agreement I agreed to keep the employees. The employees signed new employment agreements with my company and have signed on to a 90 day probation. My question is if I were to terminate one am I liable for severance

Thank you for your question. When a business is purchased and employees of the old employer continue working, past service is inherited. This means that even with a probationary term, employees are very likely owed severance if they are terminated. If you are going to let these employees go, it is important that you call us so we can discuss how you can significantly minimize any financial liability. You can reach us at 1855-821-5900.
