After receiving few warnings about safety issues I've had at my work I was on my last straw. During my break time I was on my forklift parked and out of the way and turned off as I was finishing up small paperwork. Noticing the time that it was Break time where we got free time for getting drinks, smokes etc. I was sitting on my forklift and sat back with my eyes closed (Not sleeping because saftey issues that were addressed and I understood that) and I hear my manager (Person who has hired me and who has warned me about issues.) Call my name and say good morning. He asks me about what I remember what we talked about (Being the warnings and issues of "Sleeping" on the forklift even though I was stationary and turned off and sitting back relaxing.) I nod my head in agreement and without another split second he just says "We are done." In a way meaning I was fired.
To sum it all up I was on break relaxing on my own time on a parked forklift that was turned off and out of the way of any other drivers or people that would need to be doing something. I was no way any kind of hazard to anyone working around me as I took precautions for that. And I wasn't sleeping I was just relaxing on a warm forklift because it was freezing in the warehouse during break time which is not only for me but the temporary workers and other forklift drivers.
