My step-daughter worked for EMS in Alberta as a 911 operator. This is her dream job and she loves it. She unfortunately got really I’ll and had to go on LTD for 2 years. Apparently after the 2 years on LTD they are allowed to fire her which they did and also now has a life long ban for ever working in that position again. She is completely devastated. Is this a real thing?

Your employer can only terminate your employment while you are on a medical leave of absence in very narrow circumstances. If you are not a part of a union, I would strongly recommend that you schedule a consultation with a member of our team to review your circumstances in more detail and provide you with your options going forward.
