Ask your question about terminations, dismissals and lay offs and an employment lawyer in Ontario, BC or Alberta will answer in minutes
We terminated an employee who did not meet the job expectations. She was with the company for 6 months and we are not unionized. After many verbal warnings, we gave her a written warning letter 1,5 month before she was fired stipulating all the improvements that she had to show but she did not improve. She argues that she did improve...She is now requesting a letter with actual infractions, dated if possible. Please let us know how we should respond
We would want to know what the warings actually said and the nature of the infractions at issue. You certainly don't have the obligation to provide her with the letter she is requesting. The key here is to determine whether, in the eyes of the law, you had cause to terminate her employment. Please give us a call so that we can discuss this in greater detail.
