Hi, I was a VP and was acquired by another company. They provided me with a letter saying that my new title will be Manager and that I would be reporting to a VP in another country. There was no discussion prior to receiving a letter in my inbox. When the discussion finally happened, I was advised I would have a direct report and be managing a group regionally. A month and a half past and now am told that there are further discussions happening internally but they were vague about it. The person that is supposed to report to me is Certified and I am not. They only recently asked me for my certification (when they provided me with the new title and role, they never asked me what my work history/background or education was). They also recently asked for my resume. Now I am wondering if they can rescind the offer based on me not having the educational requirement? OR can they change the structure to have me report into the person that was supposed to report to me? thanks,

If the new employer is attempting to change your position without your consent, this would be considered a constructive dismissal scenario, entitling you to your severance entitlements. Given the information you provided above and the issues involved, this is not something we can adequately review/assess through this online forum and we would need to have a discussion with you to review all the issues. Please contact the number below to schedule a consult with one of our employment lawyers to assist you in this matter.
