Hello,
My wife employs one secretary. Her secretary just hid money from a client, only $25.00 but there could have been more before.
She was lied to her face about the hidden money and there have been other incidences of untruths. My wife feels very uncomfortable with the situation now as she no longer can trust her employee.
The said secretary has been with her for ten years and has a reputation for being litigious.
We are unsure how to proceed as we are discussing letting her go.
Thank you,
Bill

Thank you for your question. My name is Stephen Gillman and I am an employment lawyer with Samfiru Tumarkin LLP. Regardless of the amount, what you have descried would likely be grounds for a just cause termination. That said, I would need more facts and a better understanding of the situation to provide a full legal opinion. I would be happy to schedule a free and confidential consultation with you and your wife to fully discuss your options. If interested, please write to me directly at stephen.gillman@stlawyers.ca so we can set up a time to speak.
