Two of us work for a small company, actually at this point only three employees are left on payroll. They have decided to close and have given us a letter stating the closure date (May 31/18) and we will get our final paycheck and holiday pay due on the payroll ending date, nothing more. I have been an employee (office manager) for 14 years, my friend has been the customer service/delivery manager for 24 years. Are they required to pay any type of severance, etc. The company has an annual income of about 1.5-2 million a year. The company is located in Markham, Ontario.

You are owed significantly more than a couple of months of notice (assuming you have just learned about the upcoming closure). Your entitlements could be up to 12-14 months and your colleague's could be up to 18+ months. The company's size is irrelevant. As long as the company has assets and you don't have other jobs lined up you should not hesitate to pursue your termination packages. As a first step I invite you to contact us at the number below to have your cases assessed according to your circumstances and to discuss next steps.
