I’ve been the Supervisor of my department for at least 13 years. The environment is very stressful, HR practices are unbelievable even to the point of hiding sexual harassment complaint from several women against one man in particular (he is still working there). I am presently off on medical leave due to burn out, anxiety and depression. I’m trying to get myself the courage to return to work but the more I think of the environment the sicker I get. It’s almost a year that I’ve been off. Since being off I’ve been made aware of layoffs of other supervisor managers that have been there for 15 plus years. My question is can they do the same to me while I’m off on medical leave? Because I’m aware of bad practices in the work place and I’m a rape and sexual abuse survivor I’m terrified to go back and work there again. What are my rightsI was let go from my position today for not showing up for a shift. I was told by one of my managers not to come in for the shift and that another coworker would be working it for me- and to feel better soon .. I had had a bad allergic reaction..(I have this conversation saved as it was over text) I was told by the general manager that it was my responsibility to work my scheduled shift and because I have had two prior written warnings for tardiness this was considered my third and As a result I was being terminated. (The employee who was asked by the manager to work my shift for me did so)In this meeting with my general manager I explained to her and tried to show her the conversation with the other manager where I said I was able to come to work but in the end was told not to come to work but she wouldn’t not acknowledge the conversation and instead kept telling me that it was my responsibility. My husband is a school bus driver (8 years) and the company has been "sold" - no details on if stocks sold or assets sold, but assuming bus company is closing down and a new bus company (existing bus company) may offer him employment. A new position may mean he has to drive to a much further to the new bus depot to pickup the bus and some other terms of his current employment will likely change as well but not in a good way. With the sale, would he entitled to severance? (I've done the calculator $12,833 to $14,666). What does he need to be aware of in signing documents with the new company? Could he be signing away his severance rights or anything else? A short note given to everyone with no date or signature or addressed to them personally has been received from his current company. Is that considered "notice" based on the day he received it? It seems more like an announcement than official notice. Thank you and love the radio and TV program.Hi, worked for construction company for 33 years was laid off in November with one days notice, filed for unemployment benefits which still receiving, I live in a house they own and received a letter in April that i have to be out in the end of June as they are dissolving the company. Is this fair on their part? Thank youI heard on the CFRA radio on Saturday, if you have deany for a claim by any agency government or any other because of your employer for any reason. Don't apeal to the same agency that deany your claim because it will be be the same again. I called your office and I mentioned WSIB to you staff and I was dismissed Right away. I think there is wrong information on radio compair to what they say in office. Why the person I spoke to didn't want to hear what I had to say after I mentioned WSIB? Previous Next Page 78 of 203
